A Marquee Acquisition for United The forward, with six months left on her contract, has been a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. She has netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for her country. This signing is viewed as a marquee signing for the Women’s Super League side. Departure from Bayern was expected after she was seen fighting back tears while thanking the club's fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently. It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top forwards. According to reports, the formalities for the move are now finalised. Reliable Goalscoring to Strengthen the Attack The experienced striker's arrival should represent a significant uplift to United’s forward line. Schüller has been highly reliable with her finishing in the Bundesliga. For seven straight seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals. She won the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals. Gathering Steam at Old Trafford The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when United seem to be building positive momentum. Their recent performances feature securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals. Off the pitch, the winter break has seen further activity: The acquisition of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal. The new deal for Japan playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023. On Miyazawa’s new deal, a senior figure commented: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play.
