Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood. “The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a second term in office. “If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life free from concern.” This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House. The animal, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection. A Peaceful Retirement Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release. “The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message. “It captures the spirit of Miami: happy, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Annually, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.” Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
