Six Arrested After 12 Million Euro Armed Raid on Gold Refining Lab in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators carrying high-powered firearms employed explosives to break into a gold treatment facility located in the city of Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five employees during what is being called the newest significant broad daylight robbery to occur in the nation.

The audacious robbery was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with officers quickly arresting the suspected perpetrators and recovering the stolen goods assessed at around 12 million euros (£10.5 million), officials reported.

Five workers of the precious metals facility received light wounds as a result of the detonation, and three employees required hospital checks for assessment, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight workers were at the location when the thieves struck.

The individuals, believed to be career criminals, were taken into custody soon afterwards in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female participant involved in the robbery was also apprehended, officers confirmed.

“Six suspects who employed explosive devices in an attack on a precious metals company in the Lyon area were arrested at the scene,” France's security official declared on social media, praising officers for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were likewise seized.

The heist took place as authorities on Thursday arrested five more suspects, including a primary suspect, in connection with the bold theft at the Louvre.

Dozens of investigators have been pursuing four thieves who utilized a lorry featuring an elevating platform and cutting equipment to breach a first-floor gallery at the renowned museum on the nineteenth of October, escaping with ornaments assessed at around 88 million euros.

In a separate high-profile case, robbers the previous month entered illegally the Parisian museum of natural history, making off with gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A woman from China, aged 24 was apprehended in the current month in Barcelona, Spain in connection with the break-in, according to legal authorities.
