Each are being considered with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following Brendan Rodgers' resignation on the start of the week. McKenna's Stance on Celtic McKenna described the Glasgow giants as "an enormous football club" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town. The mid-thirties took charge of Portman Road in 2021 and guided the team to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were relegated back to the second division and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship. "I have not had such discussions," the English capital native ex- Northern Ireland youth international said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist. "This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my concentration is currently. "I possess a special job here at a special club. And we're at a really important phase of the campaign. Anything outside of that hasn't touched my awareness." Background and Agreement Details It has been suggested that McKenna would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support. "During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely all people has to publicly and announce what they used to be, but of course it's a massive sports organization." McKenna signed a new multi-year deal in 2024 and was asked about his alleged £5m release clause. "Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you regardless! "I tackle this job like I will remain Town's coach forever. I know that's not always going to be the situation, but I will consistently do my best as long as I am here." Bellamy's Position Bellamy played for Celtic on loan from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Wales striker is minded to complete the ongoing global tournament campaign, a stance that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Glasgow position. Wales are currently third in their World Cup group behind leaders Belgium and second-placed Macedonia. Wins over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in next month would secure their position in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of making those, due to a successful Nations League performance, even if they fail to finish as Group J second place. Given his current position, Bellamy, whose contract expires after the European Championship, would not be available until after the play-offs at the minimum.
