Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn states she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, following earning a top-three finish for the fourth time in five World Cup competitions. The veteran athlete, who last week set a record by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, finished third in the super giant slalom in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This marked her 142nd career World Cup podium finish. Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere Returning to the iconic venue for the first time in eight years, Vonn finished the course in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was 0.36 seconds behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place. "I was slightly lacking the right line on the initial jump," the skier commented. "After that, I performed strongly. I'm satisfied with my performance today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was not aggressive enough." This performance was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere during the event, having also finished third in the downhill on Saturday. An Incredible Return from Retirement Vonn officially retired in February 2019 because of persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in late 2024 following a major knee surgery. With 47 days remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are set to run from 6-22 February, Vonn's form are timely. She boasts an Olympic gold and two bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the 2026 Games. "In Cortina, I will be where I need to be," the athlete confirmed. Aiming for Further Glory In addition to her Games aspirations, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four World Cup titles she has secured over a career spanning 20 years. She currently holds a 69-point lead at the top of the overall downhill standings and is ranked fifth in the super-G World Cup table. This season's World Cup circuit includes a total of nine races scheduled before the circuit finale in Norway on 21 March 2026.
